too scene to be seen
You’re out there having fun
And I need you
It’s hard to be alone.
Nine miles I’ve walked
Up and down the hall.
Long hall.
I miss the last time
That we had a fight
Isn’t it sad?
I don’t care.
And if I have to
I’ll read your books
‘Cause they’ll remind me of you.
And I’ll learn your notes
So that I’lI have a clue.
And I’ll watch your films
So I’ll know them through and through.
And I’ll do the things that remind me of you.
And I’ll wash my hair in your shampoo.
And I’ll buy your perfume
And spray it ’round my room.
And I’ll smoke your cigarettes
So that I’m dying too.
And I’ll call you up
Fa la la la.
Am I sane?
Mmm.
One of my favourite albums of this year was released in early May on M.I.A’s label, N.E.E.T. Recordings. It’s from the Brooklyn duo, consisting of Alexis Krauss (who I’m told is not related to the wonderful Alison Krauss) and Derek Miller - Sleigh Bells – and it’s entitled Treats.
This album is incredibly raw and with seemingly no boundaries. It’s catchy, heavy, hip-hoppy, noisy, melodic and damn loud. Really hard to compare this LP to anything… but, if I must; perhaps a thrashier Go! Team. This really is a brilliant piece of work and I wouldn’t be surprised if it sees the year out as my number one album of 2010.
Plx go buy it. It’ll also be traxxRADIO’s Feature Album in the very near future.
Pendulum have certainly made a name for themselves in Australia – and indeed internationally – in recent years. But, honestly, they’re not all that groundbreaking or in fact engaging.
No less, their new album, Immersion, was out last Friday and if you like that kind of thing, go out and buy it.
I have to pretend to be unbiased and as such, new tracks from Pendulum are now spinning on the world’s indie broadcaster, traxxRADIO, so go listen.
I get up after hitting the snooze button a minimum of six times. I make a coffee, then sit in the shower drinking it and smoking cigarettes until the initial agony of knowing I have to spend another day with my coworkers dissipates. I generally spend this time trying to calculate the pros and cons of just not turning up. I know they will bitch but their opinions mean little to anyone so sometimes I just stay in the shower for an hour and then go back to bed.
If I do decide to go in, I sit in an office the size of a wardrobe and temperature of a kiln prostituting myself by spending the day making poor products look appealing so that people will be tricked into buying them.

I’m currently listening to the second studio album from the incredible Melbourne electropop 3-piece Midnight Juggernauts, The Crystal Axis, out May 28.

Hear it on traxxRADIO as the Feature Album of early June.
One of my most anticipated albums of the year and it’s sensational.
RILO KILEY’S Under the Blacklight is still, in my well-informed musical opinion, one of the greatest albums of last decade. I’ve just found myself listening to it after an odd order of events…
-> Searched YouTube for Miami Horror’s Moon Theory (wanted to see it done live).
-> Found a remix by Miami Horror of Tegan & Sara’s Walking With A Ghost.
-> Decided to listen to The Con.
-> Linked The Con with the brilliant year of indie music, 2007.
-> Recalled the 2007 release of Under the Blacklight.
Really is a sensational album. Go buy it.
And why not review my top 50 of 2007?
Ruby & Kimmy are two very different people in two very different worlds with two very different personalities, aspirations, interests and music tastes. Together they blog about meaningless shit. This is where they do it.
